Womanist Ethics Framework

A framework rooted and emerging from the epistemological privilege of Black American women to address intersectional oppression with a focus on ethical behavior. Learning to engage relationships, communities, systems and spiritual care through this lens:

  • Begins with radical respect and appreciation for the knowledge, wisdom, insights and critics of one’s lived experiences, cultural identities and social location. 

  • Identifies oppression within relationships, communities and systems with the focus of resistance and liberation

  • Identifies and engages resources for well being and life-affirming resistance for all. 

  • Practices self-love as an essential part of self care and self care as essential for collective care

Disability Justice Framework

Able bodiness is temporary. Learning to engage bodies, relationships, justice work and spiritual care through this lens:

  • Begins with the inherent worthiness of all persons/bodies as inherent and not based on their productivity

  • Practices listening to the body learning and responding with intention and attention. Upholds the epistemological privilege of lived experience. 

  • Understands times of rest and renewal are essential to living a full well-balanced life.

  • Upholds the interdependence and interconnectedness of life by practicing collective care. 

  • Resists aspect of culture that commodify, dehumanize and exploit
